Translation Exercise - 18
In a small town lived a boy named Rohit with his mother. His father had passed away when he was very young. His mother worked as a cleaner in a school and somehow managed the household. They didn’t have much, but she always made sure Rohit’s education never suffered. Rohit was very bright in class. One day, the school announced a science exhibition, and the best project would earn a scholarship. Rohit was thrilled but needed a motor, wires, batteries, and some wood. His mother took out some savings and gave him the money. On the day of the exhibition, Rohit noticed his mother wearing her old torn slippers. Tears welled up in his eyes. He remembered she had been wearing the same pair for months, always prioritizing his needs over hers. Rohit won the first prize and the scholarship, but his joy felt incomplete. At home, he asked, “Mom, why didn’t you buy yourself new slippers?” She smiled and said, “You are my dream, son. As long as your steps keep moving forward, that’s the biggest gift for me.” That day, Rohit learned the greatest lesson of life — the truest form of love is sacrifice.
