जब हम English सीखते हैं, तो कई बार हमें ऐसे शब्दों के समूह (group of words) मिलते हैं जो मिलकर एक ही अर्थ (meaning) देते हैं, लेकिन sentence में पूरे clause की तरह काम नहीं करते। ऐसे शब्दों के समूह को ही Phrase कहते हैं।

Phrase एक ऐसा expression होता है जिसमें subject या finite verb नहीं होता, लेकिन यह sentence का एक meaningful हिस्सा बनता है।

Adjective phrase वह होता है जो किसी noun या pronoun को describe करता है।

• He is a man of great honesty.

Adverb phrase वो होता है जो verb, adjective या किसी adverb को modify करता है।
