English – Once, a lion was sleeping peacefully in the forest. A little mouse came there and started playing on the lion’s body. The lion woke up and caught the mouse angrily.
“How dare you disturb me?” roared the lion. “I will eat you!”
“Please forgive me, O King of the jungle,” begged the mouse. “Maybe someday I can help you in return!”
The lion laughed. “How can a little mouse help a big lion?” But he let the mouse go.

A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. He roared and struggled but couldn’t free himself. The mouse heard the lion’s roar and ran to help. He started gnawing the ropes of the net with his sharp teeth. Soon, the lion was free.

“You were right,” said the lion gratefully. “Even a small friend can be a great help!”

हिंदी – एक बार जंगल में एक शेर आराम से सो रहा था। तभी एक छोटा चूहा वहाँ आ गया और शेर के ऊपर खेलते हुए दौड़ने लगा। शेर जाग गया और गुस्से से चूहे को पकड़ लिया।

“तूने मेरी नींद क्यों खराब की?” शेर गरजा। “मैं तुझे खा जाऊँगा!”

“मुझे माफ कर दो, जंगल के राजा,” चूहे ने कहा। “शायद मैं कभी आपकी मदद कर सकूं!”

शेर हँसा और बोला, “तू मेरी क्या मदद करेगा?” लेकिन उसने चूहे को छोड़ दिया।

कुछ दिनों बाद शेर एक शिकारी के जाल में फँस गया। वह दहाड़ने लगा और छूटने की कोशिश करने लगा, पर असफल रहा। चूहे ने शेर की आवाज़ सुनी और तुरंत आया। उसने अपने तेज दाँतों से जाल काटना शुरू किया। थोड़ी देर में शेर आज़ाद हो गया।

“तू सही था,” शेर बोला, “छोटा दोस्त भी बड़ी मदद कर सकता है।”
