Phrasal Verbs
English Grammar में Phrasal Verbs बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं क्योंकि ये बोलचाल की भाषा को और भी ज़्यादा प्रभावी और प्राकृतिक बनाते हैं।
Phrasal Verbs दो या तीन शब्दों से मिलकर बनते हैं — एक Verb + एक या दो Particles (Prepositions या Adverbs)।
इनका अर्थ Verb से अलग होता है, इसलिए इन्हें अलग से सीखना ज़रूरी होता है।
Phrasal Verbs क्या होते हैं?
जब किसी क्रिया (Verb) के साथ कोई Preposition या Adverb जुड़ता है और वे मिलकर एक नया अर्थ बनाते हैं, उसे Phrasal Verb कहते हैं।
Example:
Look (देखना) + after = Look after (देखभाल करना)
Give (देना) + up = Give up (हार मान लेना)
Phrasal Verbs के प्रकार
Transitive Phrasal Verbs (सक्रीय) – जो किसी वस्तु (Object) को लेते हैं।
He put off the meeting. (उसने मीटिंग टाल दी।)
Intransitive Phrasal Verbs (अक्रीय) – जो वस्तु नहीं लेते।
The plane took off. (जहाज़ उड़ा।)
Separable Phrasal Verbs – Object के बीच में आ सकते हैं।
She turned off the light. / She turned the light off.
Inseparable Phrasal Verbs – Object के बीच में नहीं आते।
I looked after the kids. (सिर्फ यही फ़ॉर्म सही है)
