English – Once upon a time, in a dense jungle, lived a powerful lion who had grown old and weak. He could no longer hunt as fast as before. So, he thought of a cunning plan to get food easily.

The lion pretended to be sick and lay inside his cave. Whenever an animal passed by, the lion would call out in a weak voice, “Dear friend, I’m very ill. Please come in and meet me.”

Out of sympathy, many animals visited the lion to check on him. But as soon as they entered the cave, the lion pounced on them and ate them. Day by day, the number of animals visiting him started to decrease.

One day, a clever fox came that way. The lion called out in his usual weak tone, “Oh dear fox, I am very sick. Come in and see me one last time.”

The fox, being wise and cautious, didn’t go in. Instead, he stood outside and looked around carefully. He noticed that there were many footprints going into the cave, but none coming out.

The fox immediately understood what was going on. He laughed and said, “Lion, I see the footsteps of many who went in, but none who came out. I’m not foolish enough to walk into your trap!”

The lion realized his plan had been exposed and growled in anger, but the fox had already walked away safely.

From that day, the other animals also stayed away from the lion’s cave, and the wicked lion remained hungry and helpless.

हिंदी – एक समय की बात है, एक घने जंगल में एक ताकतवर शेर रहता था। लेकिन अब वह बूढ़ा और कमजोर हो चुका था। वह पहले की तरह शिकार नहीं कर पाता था। इसलिए उसने एक चालाक योजना बनाई ताकि आसानी से भोजन मिल सके।

शेर ने बीमार होने का नाटक किया और अपनी गुफा के अंदर लेट गया। जब भी कोई जानवर पास से गुजरता, शेर कमजोर आवाज़ में कहता, “प्रिय मित्र, मैं बहुत बीमार हूँ। ज़रा अंदर आकर मुझसे मिलो।”

दयालु जानवर उसकी बातों में आ जाते और उसे देखने गुफा के अंदर चले जाते। लेकिन जैसे ही वे अंदर जाते, शेर उन पर झपट पड़ता और उन्हें खा जाता। धीरे-धीरे कई जानवर ग़ायब होने लगे।

एक दिन एक चालाक लोमड़ी उधर से गुज़री। शेर ने हमेशा की तरह कहा, “ओ प्यारी लोमड़ी, मैं बहुत बीमार हूँ। आखिरी बार मुझसे मिलने अंदर आओ।”

लोमड़ी समझदार थी। उसने अंदर जाने से पहले गुफा के बाहर चारों ओर ध्यान से देखा। उसने देखा कि बहुत सारे पैरों के निशान गुफा के अंदर जा रहे थे, लेकिन कोई भी बाहर नहीं आ रहा था।

लोमड़ी ने तुरंत सच्चाई समझ ली। वह हँसी और बोली, “शेर राजा, मैंने देखा कि बहुत से जानवर अंदर गए हैं, लेकिन कोई भी बाहर नहीं आया। मैं इतनी मूर्ख नहीं हूँ कि तुम्हारे जाल में फँस जाऊँ!”

शेर को समझ आ गया कि उसकी चालाकी पकड़ी जा चुकी है। वह गुस्से में दहाड़ा, लेकिन तब तक लोमड़ी सुरक्षित दूर जा चुकी थी।

उस दिन के बाद, अन्य जानवरों ने भी शेर की गुफा से दूर रहना शुरू कर दिया, और वह दुष्ट शेर भूखा और बेबस रह गया।
