English – Once upon a time, a farmer set a trap in his field to catch the pesky cranes that were eating his seeds. One day, he heard a noise in the trap and went to see what he had caught.

Inside the trap were many cranes struggling to get out. Along with them was a stork.

The stork pleaded, “Please, kind farmer, let me go! I am not like the cranes. I have done no harm.”

The farmer looked at the stork and asked, “How can I believe you? You were caught with the cranes, and you look just like them!”

The stork said, “I am a noble bird, with long legs and a graceful neck. I never ate your seeds. I only flew with the cranes.”

But the farmer was not convinced. He said, “You are caught, and you must suffer the consequences just like the rest.”

So the farmer caught the stork along with the cranes and did not let him go.

हिंदी – एक बार की बात है, एक किसान ने अपने खेत में फसल को खाने वाले क्रेन को पकड़ने के लिए जाल बिछाया। एक दिन उसे जाल में कुछ आवाज़ सुनाई दी, वह देखने गया कि उसने क्या पकड़ा है।

जाल में कई क्रेन फंसे हुए थे, और उनके साथ एक सारस भी था।

सारस ने विनती की, “दयालु किसान, कृपया मुझे छोड़ दो! मैं क्रेन जैसा नहीं हूँ। मैंने तुम्हारे खेत को कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुँचाया।”

किसान ने सारस को देखा और पूछा, “मैं तुम्हारी बात कैसे मानूं? तुम क्रेन के साथ पकड़ा गया हो, और तुम्हारा रूप भी उनका जैसा ही है।”

सारस ने कहा, “मैं एक गरिमामय पक्षी हूँ, मेरी टाँगें लंबी हैं और गला सुडौल है। मैंने तुम्हारे बीज कभी नहीं खाए, मैं तो बस क्रेन के साथ उड़ता था।”

लेकिन किसान उसकी बात पर विश्वास नहीं किया। उसने कहा, “तुम भी पकड़े गए हो, इसलिए तुम्हें भी सजा मिलनी चाहिए।”

इसलिए किसान ने सारस को भी क्रेन के साथ पकड़ लिया और छोड़ दिया नहीं।
