English – In a small village surrounded by lush green forests, there lived a gentle elephant named Gajju. He was loved by all the villagers, especially the children, because of his kind heart and helpful nature.

One day, during the monsoon season, heavy rains flooded the nearby river. The old wooden bridge that connected the village to the town was washed away. The villagers were worried. Without the bridge, they couldn’t go to the town to buy food, medicines, or send their children to school.

Seeing everyone in trouble, Gajju stepped forward. “Don’t worry,” he said in his deep voice, “I will help you cross the river.”

The next morning, Gajju stood near the riverbank. One by one, he carried children, elders, and goods on his back across the river. It was not easy — the current was strong, and the stones were slippery, but Gajju remained careful and calm.

Every day for a week, Gajju carried people across until the new bridge was built. The villagers were extremely grateful. They organized a small celebration for Gajju. Children sang songs, elders blessed him, and the village chief gave him a big garland made of fresh fruits and flowers.

Gajju smiled and said, “I didn’t do this for a reward. I did it because this is my home, and you’re all my family.”

From that day on, Gajju was not just loved — he was respected. The villagers built a statue of him near the new bridge to remember his kindness forever.

अगली सुबह, गज्जू नदी के किनारे खड़ा हो गया। वह एक-एक करके बच्चों, बुज़ुर्गों और सामान को अपनी पीठ पर बैठाकर नदी पार करवाने लगा। काम आसान नहीं था — पानी का बहाव तेज़ था और पत्थर फिसलन भरे थे, लेकिन गज्जू धैर्य और सावधानी से सबको पार करवाता रहा।

पूरा एक हफ्ता गज्जू ने यही किया, जब तक कि नया पुल नहीं बन गया। गाँव के लोग बहुत आभारी थे। उन्होंने गज्जू के लिए एक छोटा सा समारोह रखा। बच्चों ने गीत गाए, बुज़ुर्गों ने आशीर्वाद दिया, और गाँव के मुखिया ने उसे फूलों और फलों की माला पहनाई।

गज्जू मुस्कराकर बोला, “मैंने यह किसी इनाम के लिए नहीं किया। यह मेरा घर है और आप सब मेरा परिवार हो।”

उस दिन के बाद गज्जू को सिर्फ प्यार नहीं, बल्कि बहुत सम्मान भी मिला। गाँववालों ने उसके सम्मान में नए पुल के पास उसकी एक मूर्ति बनाई, ताकि उसकी दया को हमेशा याद रखा जा सके।
