Translation Exercise - 5
Neelam used to perform very well in her studies earlier, but lately, her grades had started dropping. One day, her mother asked her what had happened and why she was lagging behind in academics. Neelam replied that although she understood the subjects, she wasn’t able to focus and often spent her time drawing and sketching.
Her mother realized that Neelam’s heart was now deeply into art and painting. She told Neelam to continue pursuing her art but also to take her studies seriously. Neelam agreed, and she started dedicating one hour a day to painting and the rest to studying. Slowly, her grades improved and she was already very talented in art.
A year later, the opportunity to participate in a National Children’s Art Competition came, but the challenge was that the competition and her board exams were scheduled at the same time. Neelam gave equal attention to both and secured excellent marks in her exams.
Now came the day of the competition. Neelam worked tirelessly for seven hours on her painting, and her fingers developed blisters. Still, she didn’t give up and submitted her artwork on time. The judges were highly impressed by her dedication and creativity, and she won the first prize at the national level.
When her mother saw that despite the pain and exhaustion, Neelam remained focused on her art, she asked Neelam what she wanted to do in the future. Neelam said she wanted to become an artist and use her artwork to inspire change in society.
Her mother smiled and said, “There’s only one condition – work with full dedication and sincerity.” Neelam promised, and from that day, her new journey began.
