Translation Exercise - 8
He must have believed deep down that no one would laugh at his weaknesses or make fun of him behind his back. He thought people around him would understand his struggles and support him instead of mocking. But little did he know, there were many people nearby who found joy in pointing out others’ flaws and putting them down for their own amusement. These people didn’t care about kindness; they thrived on belittling others to feel superior.
He probably also expected his friends to stand by him in difficult times, to offer a helping hand and be his strength when he needed it most. He hoped that those he trusted would never abandon him or take advantage of his vulnerabilities. Yet, in reality, some of those very friends distanced themselves or sometimes even joined in making fun of him.
Still, he didn’t give up. He chose to grow stronger from within and realized that true strength comes from self-belief, not from others. Slowly, he learned to ignore the harsh words and negativity of those who tried to bring him down. He understood that while people’s opinions might hurt, they don’t define who he is or what he’s capable of becoming.
